Hello everyone! I have a big push this upcoming year for competitions.

In January I have pro league qualifiers in Baltimore. The competition fee is already paid for there, but I need to cover the cost of gas and housing to get there still. I'll predict that's going to be somewhere around $200-$300.

I then have the Arnolds World Championship! (This is invite only) Conveniently located 15 minutes from my house! The competition fee is still due and is $220.

I then have a chance to try and reclaim a title that I was never able to earn on the West Coast! (This was a competition I broke my leg on before) That being said, I no longer live on the West Coast.... So there's the cost of housing and a flight which will be a bit more than everything else....

So how will I use the money? As soon as there's enough to cover housing in Baltimore that's my first priority. 2nd priority will be covering the competition fees of the Arnolds. The stretch goal would be covering the flight, but chances are we won't make it that far...

Even $5 is super helpful. I appreciate any help, even if it's just a share or retweet, or whatever it may be!

Read here about how I got invited to a world championship in London for the sport of strongman.

Asking for help, like always. This might be and probably will be the only time I'm able to get an invite to such a large scale competition where I get to compete for a world title.

It's timed with me buying a house and having to pay for a 2,000+ mile move that has left me with virtually zero disposable income. I really want to go no matter what, but it might not be possible without a little bit of help.

Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. It's a lofty goal, but it'll cost every cent of that in flights and housing alone. Thanks in advance!

Last update was pretty positive. I was talking about my spouse getting a professor job and how I had just performed halfway decently at a strongman competition.

April 22nd I'll be competing in a local strongman competition. This will be my last strongman competition in California. In other competitions I usually sign up for weight classes way above my ability to push myself in training. Since this is my last show I want to remind everyone that I'm one of the best in my own weight class and go out giving a hell of a performance. I'll be competing in my normal weight class and plan on winning each event!

May 13th I'll be competing in a local powerlifting meet. My hopes are to capture a California State bench press record for my weight class before we move.

The big one...

At the end of July I will be competing in London, UK. I was invited to a World Championship where we will test our max capabilities on the log clean and press and an elevated deadlift. I'll be with the best in the world and I have to add on about 20kg or 44 pounds to what I can currently lift by then to have a chance at a top 3 showing. Either way, I tricked someone into thinking that I was strong enough to compete for a world title so I have to back it up now!

Then after that? National Championship in October, then no plans for awhile. I'm just going to find some local strongman comps in my area so I can qualify for nationals and start the process all over again. Right now, all of the focus is on trying to perform well on the world stage in July.

Highlights from the competition that qualified me for the World Championship:

Also, while you're there subscribe to my Youtube channel! I'm working towards 400 subscribers and would like to be there by the end of April.

Hello! Your friendly newgrounds moderator here.

Let's get right into it.

----------

1) I was on a Podcast

I was recently on the @OffTheWallShow hosted by @ThatJohnnyGuy and @The-Great-One.

We talk about stuff and I trick them into thinking that I'm strong, interesting, and confident.

2) I recently Competed/Youtube

I would love for you guys to subscribe to my youtube. I recently competed in a strongman competition. Read my write up about it here and watch the highlights below.

The cool thing to note about this competition is that I'm an U200 (under 200 pound athlete) who was competing up into the U265 weight class for a fun challenge. Check out how I did! (welter weight into heavy weight)

3) General life update

My spouse, partner, lover, etc... @TeaMarie got a professor position at a very well established university. We will be moving across the United State come June/July. @TomFulp, we will be neighboring PA here shortly. Stop by and we can lift weights and ban random users/delete the forums together.

I recently made a lifting youtube channel. It would be a huge help if you could subscribe. I'm currently posting about my weekly training, but there are also competition highlights and other challenges that I've completed on there.

I'm really trying to get to 100 subscribers by the end of the week. I'm racing a buddy of mine who started his lifting channel around the same time and he's a bit closer than I am.

I also tweeted it, so if you have a twitter account a retweet would be awesome!

Next competition is in February! Then we will see from there.

So like subscribe.

Ok, I guess you want to know what I'll be posting. As many of you know, I compete in strongman. I just finished my national championship where I took 11th in the nation in my weight class. I frequently document and post individual workouts and just really liked the concept of combining a weeks worth videos into one and vlogging about it.

So, once a week or so I plan on posting a video about my weekly training and discuss my training, my goals, my thought processes, lessons learned, ideas, etc...

I'm about to go through a long and hard off season where I plan on gaining 20 pounds and then once I get closer to competing again I'm going to cut the weight back off. In theory, if I trained hard enough and kept up with my diet, I would have added a bunch of muscle and fat during the weight gain, and then lose mostly only the fat as I lose the weight. This will allow me to have more muscle, but keep the same body weight at the end of it.

I will most likely compete at least once during this time frame, but I will not be cutting weight to do so. I will just compete in the heavier weight class and not worry about winning or losing. I want to keep that competitive spirit throughout the off season.

So yeah, subscribe. It'll be pretty chill. You can also suggest things that you would be interested in seeing. Maybe how to videos, how I eat, how I approach cutting weight for a competition, etc...

If I could get like 20+ subscribers from this post that would be great. I don't have anything up there right now besides some older videos (feel free to check out), but hope to get a post up by this Wednesday.

Here's a short of some recent log technique I've been practicing for a competition on the 29th.

Hi,

My name is Fro.

My job pick thing up.

I'm just about a month away from the Strongman Corporation National Championship. Here are the events: (All in pounds)

Event 1: Axle Bar Clean and Press (1 rep max)

If you know what a barbell is, just imagine a bar with no knurling (grip) and twice as thick. It's virtually the size of a car axle. The event is to pick it up and press it to a locked out position above your head.

My weight class starts at 235 pounds and then each attempt gets 20 pounds heavier. We can jump in at any time. I will be jumping in right at the 235.

As soon as you fail an attempt (within the time limit) you no longer continue. I've hit 275 in training and that is my real goal come competition day. 295 is a possibility though!

Event 2: Farmers Carry

There will be two group of farmer carry implements. The first group will be 260 pounds per hand (520 total pounds) and the 2nd group will be 290 pounds per hand. (580 total pounds) The event is to pick, walk 40 feet with the first group. Turn around and walk the 40 feet back. Then repeat with the second group.

I'll be able to carry the 260 come comp day, but I most likely won't be able to finish the walk with 290 within the time limit. I'll give it hell though and try my best!

Event 3: Bag carry to sled drag

Carry a 265 pound sandbag to a sled 40 feet away, run back 40 feet. Pick up a 287 pound bag and carry to the sled 40 feet away. Drag the sled back 40 feet.

I should be able to do this event just fine.

Event 4: Deadlift medley

Farmer handles dead 290 each hand (580 total pounds) then immediately jump to a 330 each hand (660 total pounds), into an axle deadlift of 615 pounds for as many reps as possible in the remaining time.

I'll get the 290 just fine, should be able to do the 330 by then (660 will be a huge deadlift!), but I don't believe I'll be able to complete any reps of the 615 on the axle. I'll give it a good pull and effort, but if it's not moving I won't waste too much energy on it)

Event 5: Sandbag throw over shoulder

5 bags in a series. Pick them up from the ground and find a way to work them up your body and drop them off of the back of your shoulder.

220, 242, 265, 287, 309

I should get the first 3 bags, but the next two will be a lot of work. We will see come comp day!

Event 6: Sled pull with a rope

The weight is a mystery, I just know it will be heavy. He will be sitting on the ground with our feet against a board, pulling the sled 80 feet to the finish line.

------------

This whole trip across the country is costing me about $3,000. I've opened up a ko-fi to help offset some of the costs and also have opened up a coaching/training service by me. $30 a month or reach out and learn how to get the services for $10 a week. If you'd like to help any other way please reach out. I can accept paypal donations, venmo, etc.., etc..

Check out this video for my epic montage of recovery! (Better with volume on)

On July 23rd I participated in the strongman corporation west coast regionals. I was the favorite to win my weight class, but sadly within the first minute on the first event of the day I fractured my fibula.

As of August 22nd I've been cleared with no weight restrictions and training hard. I've made it through the first week of heavy training with no pains or concerns with the leg. I'm working hard towards the National Championship in October in Pennsylvania.

I had closed my ko-fi page because I wasn't sure on how I would recover, but it's gone well and I'm ready to give it hell with the best in the country. Therefor, I've opened my Ko-Fi back up!

Stay tuned or follow me on instagram (1st link) or twitter at TheCoachFro for constant video training logs!

Anyone interested in viewing the video.

I competed in the West Coast Regional Strongman Championships. Sadly I was the favorite to win, but I didn't make it past event one. (Which I won)

On the last rep of the log press I lost my balance and dropped the implement on my left leg, breaking my fibula.

Feel bad for me or something.

I do have a request though. If I provided training videos of myself from now leading up to the national championships in October, would someone be willing to help me edit together an epic montage style comeback video of me training over the course of the next few months?

I want to kind of keep quiet for the most part and then post a hype video before the competition.

----------

Check out my last post to see all of the upcoming competitions I have this year.

Quick summary:

  • May: CJay Classic - A fun small competition with all overhead pressing events. (My specialty)

  • June: Wrath of the Strongest - A big competition with a ton of strong athletes showing up. Just plan on having fun and trying to reach top 3!

  • July: Regional Championships - If I can win my weight class I get invited to some big comps later!

  • October: National Championships - Up against the best in the nation.

  • October: Static Monsters - A week after nationals. Just 2 lifts, going to try and perform well even though I'll have little rest in this time period. Top 10 in the world get invited to a competition in Australia.

----------

I've added up all of the hotels, estimated the gas/food, and the airplane ticket for national championships. I'm going to need $3,000 to compete in all of these.

The big push for myself will be Regional Championships, National Championships, and Static Monsters.

I would really like to win regionals, if possible. If I do I get invited to the Arnolds and to be honest it would just be cool to have Arnold yelling in my ear while I'm lifting something heavy! Either way this is a true test to see how I am against the best in my region.

For nationals, I'll do my best, but the biggest thing is I just really want the experience. Also, it's in PA. Maybe @TomFulp can come visit me! Also, this is where my parents and siblings live. I haven't seen them in multiple years and my parents are getting just old enough that there might not be too many visits left. :( Just trying to secure an AirBnb and plane tickets to get there and back.

Static monsters will be a week later. Hopefully I can recover by then and if I reach my lifting goals at the same time I should come in right around 10th place world wide at my weight class. If that's possible I could get invited to a competition in Australia! I might not ever get that opportunity again.

----------

I'll be asking more than the internet for help this time. My coworkers, family, friends, etc... It's going to be a tough year to get through all of this financially, but I'm going to make it happen one way or another!

I'm also trying to brainstorm some ideas on how to work with other individuals to help bring in donations. Maybe there are a few artists that wouldn't mind running a commissioning campaign to help me get there? Just an idea, I'll come back to it soon.
